The Prohlis District Opera

As part of a participatory musical theater project, children and young people will work together with professional musicians from the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden and local actors from the Prohlis district to create a neighborhood opera in 2025-2026. The story and libretto of the opera will also incorporate stories and interviews with both residents of the district and participants from Musaik - Grenzenlos musizieren e.V. (Musaik - Music Without Borders). With the help of well-known, specially adapted opera melodies and arranged (classical) musical works, an opera will be created. The highlight will be free public performances in the district in June 2026.

How to participate?

Participation is tailored to each individual – depending on time, interest, and ability. Professional support from experienced artists and educators is a given.

Musical: be part of the opera scenes as a choir, band, or ensemble
Creative: stage design, costumes, props—many helping hands are needed
Narrative: contribute your own stories, memories, or texts
Organizational: help with events, technology, or support
